On April 19, 2006, Captain Whittington was investigating smoke in the area of Zion Road & Dagsboro Road. Several minutes later he found approx. a half ache of woods and an excavator on fire. The fire was approx. 3/4 of a mile back in the woods. Wicomico E.O.C. alerted Station 6 for a woods fire. 619 established Zion Road command and then requested a Tanker and Brush Truck out of Station 74. Deputy Rickards had operations. Units worked on scene for approx. 2 hours. The Fire Marshall and Forestry were also called to the scene.
