Storm Damages - Parsonsburg
Saturday, July 7, 2018
On September 01, 2006 the weather forecast was projected as a typical rain storm with heavy showers at time. That changed shortly after 0800 hours. Due to high winds and heavy rain, Chief Steve White & Deputy Chief Rickards organized a 'Storm Team' to stand by at Station 6 until the storm passed. A total of 6 pieces of apparatus were fully staffed. Chief White manned the Radio Control room and as calls were dispatched he then directed the necessary pieces of apparatus to respond. Keeping the responses organized and effectively handling all emergencies in the district. During the brunt of the storm a large tree fell directly in front of the fire house taking down power lines and blocking the bay doors. An Engine crew was requested from Station 7, Pittsville to assist. Due to the large diameter of the tree, County Roads had to remove the tree. Station 6 ran over 20 calls in a 16 hour period.
