Multiple Car Pile Up - Rt. 50 & Walston Switch Road

On Tuesday, December 05, 2006, at around 1415 hours, '318' (Big Dog) advised Wicomico E.O.C. that he was involved in a Multiple Car Vehicle Accident on Ocean Gateway just prior to Walston Switch Road. '619' (R. Whittington) arrived on scene and established Ocean Gateway Command. After investigating Captain Whittington found there to be four vehicles involved and a total of four patients. The fifth vehicle fled the scene. 616 Deputy Chief Rickards arrived on scene shortly afterwards.
Station 6 Fire Police stopped traffic completely and allowed all Fire/EMS equipment to drive West in the East bound lane.
Rescue Engine 604 arrived on scene and assisted with patient care and stabilized the vehicles.
Command had 633 (B. Bunting) continue to have the traffic stopped while crews were working along side the highway. Due to the heavy volume of traffic Captain Whittington had Station 7 Traffic Control unit respond and assist.
A total of three patients were transported to PRMC in Salisbury, with minor injuries. Command was terminated and Fire Police remained on scene to assist MSP.
