Gas Leak - Wastegate Road
Saturday, July 7, 2018
About 1:30 this afternoon, Wicomico Central alerted Station 6 for a Gas Leak at 5220 Wastegate Road. Command 6 responded with 617 (Asst. Chief Tyler) and was soon followed by Rescue Engine 604 and Tanker 608. Upon arrival, Command was established the situation was investigated. Command found a privately owned propane tank on its side actively leaking. The crew of RE604 was ordered to deploy an 1 3/4" attack line and maintain a fog stream on the tank. Upon consultation with a Chesapeake Utilities representative, the tank was uprighted and the fog stream was continued until they arrived and secured the leak. The inside of the residence was checked for gas with the "sniffer" and had a positive reading so Positive Pressure Ventilation was used to clear the house. We would like to thank Chesapeake Utilities for their assistance with this incident.
Units on scene: Command 6, Rescue Engine 604, Tanker 608, Paramedic B6, & Chesapeake Utilities.
