Roof Collapse Ignites Fire - 32158 Downing Rd
Saturday, July 7, 2018
After another round of heavy snowfall, a chicken house roof collapsed and the heaters inside started a fire. At 1625 Hrs, Central alerted Stations 6, 74 (Delmar), & 7 (Pittsville) for a structure fire. Units went on scene with a small fire but had extreme difficulty accessing it due to deep snow drifts. Chief White cleared a path with his beloved pick-up (Brownie) and Brush 606 was able to lay its 2 1/2" supply line and get up to the chicken house and deploy an 1 3/4" attack line. Crews remained on scene for overhaul. Captain L. Tyler (618) had command. Pittsville units were diverted to Station 6 for a cover-up.
Units Responding:
Sta.6 - E605, RE604, T608, Br606, PM-A6
Sta.74 - ET74-2, T74-5
