Station 74, 6, 7- House Fire - Melson Road

On Friday evening, January 25, 2007 at 10:45 p.m. the Wicomico County 911 Center alerted Stations 74 (Delmar), 6 (Parsonsburg) and 7 (Pittsville) for a house fire at 31865 Melson Road. 74 Command (J. Morris Jr.) arrived to find a working fire in an unoccupied home. First arriving Engine 743 arrived and stretched the front bumper 1-3/4 inch line for the initial attack. A second 1-3/4 inch line was advanced also. Engine 605 arrived next with 619 (R.Whittington) and backed up Delmar's interior crew while Truck 74 and its crew laddered the front of the structure and performed vertical ventilation. The crew from Engine 707 worked on opening up the exterior of the structure and ventilated under the foundation of the home. Crews worked in 20 degree temperatures for about two hours. Melson Road was shut down during the alarm by fire police from all three departments working on the scene. Station 5 (Hebron) was alerted to transfer to Station 74 during the alarm. www.fithp.com
