At 1611 hours on Sunday July 22, 2007, Station 6 - Parsonsburg was alerted by Wicomico Central for a motor vehicle accident with injuries involving 2 vehicles and reported to have 2 patients. The incident was reported to be on Westbound Ocean Gateway at mile marker 116 just East of Hobbs Road. Paramedic B6 responded just seconds after the dispatch. Rescue Engine 604 responded soon with 620 (Capt. L.Tyler) as officer. Units arrived to find a rear-end type collision in the slow lane just prior to the Hobbs Road intersection. Upon arrival, the Rescue Engine positioned behind the accident and 620 established Ocean Gateway Command. The crew from 604 assisted EMS personnel with 3 priority 3 patients and then secured the vehicles and cleaned up some vehicle fluids that were leaking. 640 (EMS Capt. J.Cooper) obtained 6 patient refusals. Paramedic B6 and Paramedic A6 each transported to PRMC and Station 7 - Pittsville was alerted for an EMS unit to cover any calls in Station 6's first due. Traffic Control 6 and Station 6 Fire Police directed traffic until the scene was cleared. All fire units returned to service at 1706 hours.
