At 0552 hrs, Wicomico County Emergency Services alerted Station 6 for an MVC on Westbound Ocean Gtwy near Mile Marker 120. Soon after dispatch, the call was upgraded to a Rescue with report of 1 patient trapped. Rescue Engine 604 (Asst. Chief Tyler) arrived at 0605 hrs and confirmed the report, finding an early 90's Mercury that had hit a tree in the wooded median. The car had damage concentrated on the driver's side door and roof area with severe intrusion into the passenger compartment. RE604's crew and Rescue 7's crew went to work - Stabelizing the car, deploying handline and Hurst equipment. After removing the 2 front doors and roof, the patient was able to be extricated from the car at 0623 hrs. The patient was transported to PRMC Trauma in Salisbury Priority 2, Category C by Parsonsburg EMS. Asst. Chief Bell (716) was assigned Rescue Group and Capt. Foreman (619) was the Safety Officer. The Maryland State Police and the Wicomico County Sheriff's Dept both had several untis on the scene to complete the investigation. Ocean Gtwy West was closed during the incident.
