Parsonsburg Road Home - Damaged By Mid Day Fire

At 1139 hours, the tones started running for a house fire at 7573 Parsonsburg Road. Station 6, Station 7 (Pittsville), and Station 8 (Willards) were alerted for a fire reported in a single family dwelling. Paramedic A6 was the first unit to arrive and confirmed that all occupants were out of the home and in a safe area. E605 arrived and its crew advanced a 1 3/4" handline for the fire attack. Personnel encountered a fire in the bathroom and made a quick knock. The crews of Engine 703 & Engine 801 assisted with fire control and overhaul. Tanker 608 supplied the fireground along with Tanker 8. The Maryland State Fire Marshal's office was requested to the scene. Investigators determined the fire to be accidental ... caused by a child playing with a lighter in the bathroom and set the shower curtain on fire which spread.
